Partland – After The Movie | Nostalgia

Partland is set to release his new song called After The Movie on the 4th of August. Thomas McPartland (AKA Partland) is based in Galway. He has supported acts such as Damien Dempsey, Ham Sandwich, and The Heathers to name a few. McPartland has stated that After The Movie is the third single on his second album The Empty Atlantic, set to release in August. Adding to this, he’s also stated that the prominent themes of the album are heartbreak and death. Accompanied by a stop-motion music video put together by Partland himself, After The Movie explores themes of love, longing, and heartache.

The song was recorded a year ago and delayed due to Lockdown. The song originally had an indie vibe, but with valuable input from producer Dave Skelton (Amy Dillon, Conor Ward), it took a more upbeat, modern rock sound. Partland shows his creativity in the excellent use of chords accompanying the singular melody of his smooth voice. The beats kick in giving the song a great groove. Listening to After The Movie takes you back to a time of teenage love and McPartland does a great job of painting that picture for you!
