Riot by Irys is the artist’s newest edgy electro-pop. Irys is a Berlin based singer-songwriter exploring the dark-pop musical space. With a dark aura and a sublime sound, the artist explores ominous musical themes that tread on the edge of bedlam and anarchy.
The song sports electronic beats that drips with erotica and tantalizing vocals that is confident and sensual. The beats have an intense electric texture that reminds the listener of red tinted rooms and propaganda. The raw vocals creeps and grasps at the electronic melody flow. Faint harmonies, tender gasps and grovelling synths roll along the vocal landscape of the song and complements the glassy vocals of the singer.
With every verse, the artist lures the darkness underlying the melody and uses it to fuel her vocals. We also see the artist employing delicate vocal layering techniques to add a tenderness that makes her message more powerful. She paints a red sonic panorama of haunting agony, velvet drama and the embracing of pain. An intense groove, the song reminds the listener of drunken nights, spontaneous tragedy and black sunsets.
Irys fuses neo-goth elements, trip hops and indie electronica to expand her musical horizon. Riot is a slow burn that curves and flows through dark themes and inspires a deep insurgence. The vocals, albeit soft and glassy is bold and fierce. The artist has independently released six singles before Riot that explore similar themes.
