Amir Haider – Loving You

Following the release of his 2021 single “Gunshot”, singer-songwriter Amir Haider recently came out with his first single of the year – “Loving You“. He’s known best for his soft acoustic tracks that explore love, loss and life, translating his experiences into intricately written tracks for his audience. Haider made his debut in 2014 with the single “I’m Home”, and released an emotive 10-track album called “Leave the Blues” two years later. Featuring a mix of soothing acoustic tones and heartfelt vocals, Haider sings verses in English and Hindi, creating a beautiful fusion of styles on his latest release.

The five-minute-long track starts off with an Indian tanpura drone sound that sets the mood. With slide guitars and Hindustani classical music-like melodies, Haider touches on the emotional feel of the genre. The track flows well as Amir sings about his self-introspective journey so far and what he’s learned from it. He’s accompanied by soft, yet intricate instrumentation throughout, and changes languages with the verses.

“…I finally feel like I belong / And who I am is alright”

“I can’t stop loving you” – Haider’s delicate vocal delivery is soothing and powerful at the same time. In the second verse he sings fluently in Hindi and makes the transition really smoothly. He introduces some excitement to the track with his guitars and soothing vocal harmonies. What really ties everything up together in “Loving You” is the tabla that plays during the outro. Adding unique instruments to modern music makes it all the more colourful, and Haider sure knows how to incorporate sounds from multiple cultures into his music. In addition, the masterful mix of the track makes it all the more pleasing to the ears; a top-notch production!
