Pulling Me (Pushing Me) - Soulganic

Soulganic’s “Pulling Me (Pushing Me)” is Funky Soul Through Love’s Push n Pull

Soulganic’s new single “Pulling Me (Pushing Me)” brings their unique fusion of soul, funk, and R&B to life in a way that feels completely natural yet still full of surprises. Based out of Charlotte, North Carolina, this soul fusion trio knows how to craft a track that moves and surprises, attracting both groovy and cerebral musical tastes.

The song begins with some beautiful ethereal synths with clean arpeggiated guitar lines coming in as Cory McClure’s kick drum enters in with a steady cymbal. Anthony Rodriguez’s velvety vocals enter into this arrangement with confidence and swag. The pre-chorus changes the mood of the song with some jazzy chord changes. We are treated to some tasty synth sounds. The song ends on an experimental musical note.

The song evolves and moves in unexpected directions which is to be expected from neo-soul music. Just when you think you’ve got it figured out, it flips into a reggae-infused jam and breakdown at the end. We get a bit of The Police and some P-Funk. Ryan McKeithan’s guitar work throughout is slick, with a clean tone that perfectly complements the synth layers. Love the clean electric guitar tone and the synth tones by Soulganic.

Lyrically, the song paints the ups and downs of love, capturing that initial spark of attraction and how quickly things can turn complicated. The push and pull between passion and frustration is real, and the band does a great job of making you feel it all.

“Pulling Me (Pushing Me)” is a solid track with depth. Soulganic brings the funk and soul, while keeping you on your toes with unexpected twists. We will be keeping an eye out for their upcoming album ‘Phosphene’, which features this track.
