Joshua Pearlstein is the artist who merges classic pop and disco drama, hailing from Atlanta, GA, and now making waves in Boston, MA. His songs are as innovative as they are catchy, showcasing his flair for songwriting– and on his latest single, “Endorphins”, he takes us through a groovy, catchy listen — keep reading for my thoughts!
Adopting a more pop-first approach compared to his convention, I’m glad to report that Joshua pulls it off rather nicely here; from the start of the song, his vocals are placed front and centre, with strings and an engaging groove to get listeners hooked. There’s also much happening in the way of production and processing in the background, as the pads further help set the atmosphere quite nicely. The gritty basses, a Joshua Pearlstein signature at this point, help lend the right amounts of texture to the track, as Joshua adopts a faster, more lyric-heavy approach to “Endorphins”.

The lyrics are peppy and engaging, and Joshua’s vocal performance draws applause, as his half-sung, half yodelled style intertwines beautifully with his rhyming, all the while building upon the solid atmosphere laid down by the production and the ensemble behind him. There’s a lot of ambience in the mix while retaining flair and control, and this contributes to a high, almost festive energy on “Endorphins”, that I quite enjoyed.

The production sees a return of Joshua’s signature elements, this time with a more club-friendly, pop twist — and as I alluded to earlier, it’s an engaging listen through and through! Couple this with a tight master that retains balance and energy, and you have yourself a zesty, fresh listen that doesn’t go sour.
All in all, “Endorphins”, by Joshua Pearlstein: The kind of track that gets you moving and grooving with not much effort at all. It’s executed well, and demands your listen! Check it out here:
