Galactic Fuzz-Transparent

Galactic Fuzz-Transparent

Choose to release a debut that blows a 10-inch gaping hole in your listener’s brain. I don’t mean brute force, but that sound that gives you an edge sharper than the writing on Breaking Bad. Galactic Fuzz are the buzz of our little universe right now. Their latest track, Transparent, is a stone-cold class on how to write a catchy rock song.

With ample distortion and ruminating lyrics, there is an entire phase of the song that passes by without you knowing it. Is it the progression? The flow in the lyrics? Execution of the vocals? This is why music critics suck. I don’t care, and I shouldn’t, because its god darned good. The bridge sections in between are peppered with entertaining licks and memorable chorus sections that so caramel coated, they’ll stick. Not sorry.

Yes, that guitar solo fit like a tuxedo for a useless award show, yet had this temperament that made it such a standout. Closing with such an explosive part, they subtly phase out what is signature in many ways. There are artists that are inspired by others, and then there are some who just make music without worrying about the semantics. These guys are the latter, and they’e sure as hell switched flavours on your tomato ketchup.
