Fantastic Mr Marcel is a British singer-songwriter. Marcel has described his sound as Will.I.Am meets Andrea 300 in human form. Having been heavily influenced by superheroes, Marcel came up with the superhero name for himself – Fantastic Mr Marcel. His ability to bring in soul and alternative hip hop together really show his dynamism and range.
Love And Other Tools is a track that really has the acoustic nature of Marcel down right. The guitar, with hints of rustiness, creates a really homespun feel to it. Additionally, Marcel’s use of vocal dynamics is incredible! I absolutely love his lead vocals, but his backing vocals and harmonies positively blow me away. The bass keeps a steady groove with the track, but Marcel’s deep baritone vocals really stand out, as they cut so clearly through the mix. Love And Other Tools is a relatively mellowed out track for the Fantastic Mr Marcel. However, I believe it may be some of his best work yet. I can, clearly, hear how much growth Marcel has undergone in this track alone.
Compared to tracks like Black & White and Tongue Out, Love And Other Tools shows a great sense of maturity. Marcel’s poetic lyricism sounds like it’s reached a new height. The maturity that Fantastic Mr Marcel shows is admirable, showing his more soft-spoken side. I’d join the Fantastic Fandom while Marcel is still relatively low-key, but seeing as his monthly listener count is increasing, you may soon be late to the party!
