Dance on the high streets, with Benjamin Quartz. This musician makes you want to wrap up work fast and groove. Not at some rave, but with live music and instruments buzzing in your ear long after the concert is over. His latest single is called Pyromane, but that’s not the only one we will talk about. There is something about how he composes and performs that needs to be really studied.
Is this avant-garde? He is studying the moment through melodies, and the result might not fit any box sometimes. I sensed a groovy bossa nova kind of niche in the beginning, which turned into a jazzy affair overall. The percussion is absent in how it demands attention, but can be your guide to bop your head. Singing in French, there are layers in how Benjamin Quartz is going to construct layers for the music you’re going to listen to.

When the textures come in, you do realise it’s a simple progression that has so many waves in it. It is crisp, bouncy and yet very light on your conscience. When he treated you initially to Frénésie, you knew how he’s talking about an intense frenzy, something humans get sucked into pretty quickly.
Pyromane brings its own degree of charge to it, almost like a quick story. As the percussions build, you can hear them accent the way Benjamin is bringing the power. He merges a traditional singing style with a neuva element. Benjamin Quartz is a bona fide music connoisseur, creating a degree of excitement and nuance with each song he composes. Self professed metalhead, moderately well read. If the music has soul, it's whole to me. The fact that my bio could have ended on a rhyme and doesn't should tell you a lot about my personality.
