Australian singer/songwriter Missy Higgins released her new album, The Second Act, on September 6, 2024. This marks her first full-length studio album in six years and presents a deeply introspective soundscape, with Missy describing it as a sequel to her debut album, The Sound of White.
The Second Act explores themes of gathering oneself after hardship and falling, and is all about embracing new beginnings. Missy Higgins uses ‘The Second Act’ to talk about the questions she faced early on in her career as an artist, reflecting on them in a never-seen-before light. Other themes on the album include her journey of self-discovery after the end of her marriage — in tune with the deeply confessional, introspective style of her work.
