Taylor Swift’s Eras Tour concerts scheduled in Vienna for this weekend have been canceled due to a suspected terrorist threat. The world-famous singer, who’s been making waves all over the world with her Eras tour, suffered a minor setback after Austrian authorities had to issue an advisory after arresting two individuals, including a 19-year-old who had allegedly pledged allegiance to the Islamic State group, arrested in the town of Ternitz, south of Vienna.
The cancellation was confirmed by Barracuda Music, citing safety concerns for attendees. Barracuda Music was quoted as saying on their Instagram post, “we have no choice but to cancel the three scheduled shows for everyone’s safety.” This comes as a disturbing trend in recent times, where music concerts, a venue for artistic expression and for people to enjoy themselves, have seen an uptick in violence incidents — including a recent incident in Southport, England, where three children were tragically killed during a Taylor Swift themed dance class.

Fans who had purchased tickets will receive automatic refunds for the Eras Tour show, and the tour is set to march on, next coming to Wembley Stadium, London, for a show on the 15th of August. Fans who had been eagerly anticipating the Vienna leg of the tour expressed disappointment. Taylor Swift’s team has reassured fans that refunds will be automatically processed, and they are working on ensuring the rest of the tour continues safely.
