Linkin Park have started working on new music after their From Zero touring cycle, with Joe Hahn teasing that the next chapter could be slow, weird and pretty polarising.
Linkin Park clearly did not get the memo about taking a proper break after a massive tour. The band has already started working on new material that could eventually become the follow-up to their 2024 comeback album, From Zero.
From Touring Days Off To Studio Sessions
Speaking to NME, DJ Joe Hahn revealed that the band spent some of their days off during the From Zero tour messing around in studios and putting new ideas together. Once the tour wrapped, they took a month to recharge before heading straight back into the studio.
“Yeah, because we really enjoy being around each other, and we especially love the creation side of things and making music.”
Apparently, even a day off on tour could turn into a casual studio session. Because why even rest when you can make another song?
When asked if these sessions could eventually turn into another Linkin Park album, Hahn confirmed that new music is being developed. His answer, however, came with a healthy dose of mischief.
“Oh, yeah… and it’s going to be really slow and boring, and very polarising to everyone,” he said laughing.
Whether Hahn was joking, teasing fans or secretly preparing everyone for the strangest LP record yet is anyone’s guess.
What Comes Next For Linkin Park?
There is still no release date, album title or proper timeline for the potential From Zero follow-up. For now, the band seems to be enjoying the creative process without rushing to turn every studio idea into a finished record.
That approach comes after a seriously busy touring period. According to Billboard, the From Zero tour brought in around $251 million from approximately 2.2 million tickets, making it the biggest tour of Linkin Park’s career.
Before fans start refreshing streaming platforms for new music, though, there is another Linkin Park project on the way. The band are preparing to premiere a new live film and documentary directed by Hahn. The project looks at the group’s return following Chester Bennington’s death in 2017 while also featuring footage from their November 15, 2024 show at Allianz Parque in São Paulo, Brazil.
The film premieres today, with its official soundtrack already out.
