Gorillaz Headline Fortnite Festival Season 10 with Iconic Content

The trip-hop band members’ skins are now available upon purchasing the S10 Music Pass in Fortnite, arguably the most popular third person shooter in the world!

English virtual band Gorillaz has been announced by Epic Games to be included in Fortnite Festival Season 10 as its newest “Icons.” The new season launched on Tuesday, August 26, and brought an immersive Gorillaz experience for Fortnite players globally.

Players can access skins of all four members of the band, 2D, Murdoc Niccals, Noodle, and Russel Hobbs, as well as Jam Tracks, accessories, and emotes using the Season 10 Music Pass, which will cost 1,400 V-Bucks (around $11). Among the offerings are high-end rewards like the Murdoc Niccals outfit and the song On Melancholy Hill, and Russel Hobbs will be immediately accessible as a purchase of the pass.

Elaborate update for Fortnite Festival S10 with brand new Gorillaz themed DLC available with in-game purchases

For those who want more, the Noodle & 2D Bundle will also be available in the Fortnite Shop, which includes themed accessories such as Noodle’s mask, 2D’s shades, musical gear, back bling, and the DARE choreographed emote, which plays a portion of the song. Other classic tracks, such as Clint Eastwood and DARE will also be available in the shop as stand-alone Jam Tracks.

This partnership solidifies Gorillaz’s position in Fortnite’s all-star roster of previously seen DLC, which features The Weeknd, Lady Gaga, Billie Eilish, Metallica, Karol G, Snoop Dogg, Hatsune Miku, Bruno Mars, and Sabrina Carpenter.

Formed in 1998 by Blur‘s Damon Albarn and artist Jamie Hewlett, Gorillaz transformed music with their virtual characters and cross-genre style. The band has collectively sold over 33 million equivalent albums worldwide, Chart Masters reports. They have released eight studio albums, three collections, 11 EPs, one remix collection, and 46 singles to their name, placing them among the most influential groups in contemporary music.

Fortnite Festival Season 10 is also accompanied by important gameplay enhancements. Players will notice the addition of “Good” notes for more discernible feedback, reworked lift notes to enhance timing accuracy, and improved guitar controller calibration, which enables strumming during the tune-up process. The Main Stage will boast a striking new design that is inspired by Gorillaz’s cityscape style, with skyscrapers, street trains, and graffiti.

Epic Games is also bringing its creator-friendly policies to this season. Content creators will have a seven-day monetization window for using eligible Gorillaz tracks, such as Clint Eastwood and DARE, in videos, as long as they connect their YouTube and Support-A-Creator (SAC) accounts. Monetization claims will return to rights holders after the window. This action demonstrates Epic’s dedication to its Creator Economy 2.0 initiative, which splits 40% of net revenues from Fortnite’s Item Shop and real-money buys among an engagement-based creator pool.

Last month, Epic partnered with Sony Music Entertainment to bring a virtual PARTYNEXTDOOR concert to Fortnite, highlighting the platform’s increasingly prominent position as a destination for interactive music experiences.

The Gorillaz collaboration ties into the band’s House of Kong Exhibition, which has been held at the Copper Box Arena in Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park, London, from August 8 through September 3.

With Gorillaz entering the Fortnite universe, Season 10 is offering a marriage of music, art, and gaming that fans won’t be able to resist.
