A renowned hype man and rapper, Fatman Scoop has breathed his last breath. Aged 56, Isaac Freeman III aka Fatman Scoop collapsed while performing on stage at Hamden Town Center Park in Connecticut. Concertgoers and paramedics quickly attempted to assist him, and he was transported to a hospital where he was later pronounced dead.
Hailed as a “radiant soul” and “the laughter in our lives” by family members and loved ones, numerous figures in the worldwide hip-hop community have also come forward and paid tribute to Fatman Scoop, who was known for his booming voice and his influence in hip-hop. From hits like “Be Faithful” in 1999 to winning a Grammy Award for Best Short Form Music Video for his contribution to Missy Elliott’s “Lose Control”, Fatman Scoop remains dearly missed.

While the cause of death has not been officially disclosed, but it was reported that he suffered a medical emergency during the performance on August 30 — his last words to the audience being, “If you came here to party, make some noise”.
Fatman Scoop began his career as a hype man, a role in hip-hop that involves energizing the crowd and working closely with DJs, back in the 1990s — and beyond music, he became a cultural icon, particularly in the realms of hip-hop and party music, where his voice and presence were synonymous with celebration and energy.
He will be missed.
