New single by thrash veterans Anthrax drops this Friday!
Thrash metal legends Anthrax have officially announced their long-awaited return with a brand-new single and their first studio album in almost ten years. The band revealed the news through social media, telling fans, “It’s been more than a decade… but we’re back.”
Anthrax will release the new single, It’s for the Kids, this Friday, marking the group’s first fresh material since 2016’s For All Kings. The track serves as the first taste of their upcoming twelfth LP, Cursum Perficio, which is currently scheduled to arrive on September 18 through Megaforce Records.
The album title comes from a Latin phrase meaning “I finish the journey.” It also carries historical significance as the motto of the Scottish Hunter clan. Fans have waited years for the follow-up to For All Kings, and anticipation has continued to grow as the band teased new music over recent months.
Known as one of the pioneering acts of thrash metal, Anthrax built a loyal global following with classic albums and explosive live performances during their primitive years. Their return adds fresh energy to a genre that continues to thrive across generations of metal-heads. Drummer Charlie Benante described the new material as a “love letter to the fans” and “very intense”.
With a new single arriving this weekend and a full album on the horizon, Anthrax appear ready to launch a powerful new chapter in their storied career. The band is currently in Australia, touring with Alien Weaponry.
