Sad season just got a release date. Emo trendsetters American Football are back with LP4, dropping on May this year.
Stop what’re doing right now because our favourite midwest emo rockers are back with a brand new album! American Football have just confirmed that LP4, their long-awaited fourth studio album, is officially landing on May 1, 2026 via Polyvinyl Record Co. and fans everywhere are buzzing (or crying, may I say). The days of moping over your non-existent ex are back and we couldn’t be happier.
What Can Fans Expect From This Album?
After more than half a decade since LP3 hit in 2019, this feels like the emo equivalent of seeing a comet streak across the sky. For those who’ve witnessed this band grow from cult heroes to full-on inspirations, LP4 brings forth a familiar wave of nostalgia. The announcement dropped alongside a striking new artwork and a full tracklist, but no singles have dropped yet. What a way to edge us all.

The upcoming LP is packed with promising titles like “Man Overboard,” “Bad Moons,” and “Desdemona,” hinting at that timeless blend of bittersweet lyricism and shimmering guitar interplay fans have adored since their debut in 1999.
American Football to Go on A World Tour To Promote This Album
The band has mapped out an extensive 2026 world tour spanning North America, Europe and the UK. Along for the ride are support acts like Mei Semones, Ian Sweet, Marconi Union and Afternoon Bike Ride, bringing a fresh energy to what’s shaping up to be one of the most talked-about tours of the year.
A part of ticket proceeds will go toward charities like Safe Passage International and the Illinois Coalition for Immigration & Refugee Rights.
Whether you’re an elder emo or a Gen-Z alt kid drawn in by the band’s wistful sound, LP4 feels like the next chapter in a long, winding story that has never failed to tug at heartstrings. Get your headphones ready because this spring is about to get beautifully melancholic.
