If anything, positive came out of the pandemic for musicians, it could have been that artists had to get inventive if they wanted to be heard. Desperate Electric has created a very peppy single that seems like you’re at a crowded streets filled with neon lights. Even in all the crowd it’s just you and your partner dancing around with no consideration to onlookers. An electric vibe that can just uplift your mood and get you on your feet!
Desperate Electric are a Montana based duo consisting of Ben Morris guitar, keys, vocals, production) and Kayti Korte (bass, vocals). Together, they create a sound that is both contemporary as well as nostalgic of past decades of funk, rock ’n roll and soul. Their music is described as ‘electro soul brilliance’ and it sure is electric!
Stay is the latest single by Desperate Electric and is already stuck on my playlist. Its one of those tracks that grow on you. Slowly but surely, you will understand why this song is a must on your playlist. Its for those days when you’re down and emotional and need something to get your head out of the smoke.
The vocals just have the right effects chain and just sit in the right place in the mix. Both their vocals are amazing but Kayti’s vocals just take the cake. The echoes vocals add luster to the arrangement of the chorus and just bring her voice out to some ethereal plane. All the while, the vocals are something out of the future while the background Is so retro. The two layers create a complex yet uplifting vibe that just compliments both their vocals.
