Recently, we interviewed the young and bright musician, Priyank Shah, and here’s what he shared:

1. What was your original inspiration for creating your latest track, ‘Light’?

The original inspiration for ‘Light’ was driven by a need for joy and contrast. After exploring the intense energy of tracks like the electro-pop ‘Orbit,’ I wanted to prove my range by creating something genuinely happy and commercially accessible. I found that spark in the soulful, acoustic-driven worlds of R&B, country, and pop, specifically the recent albums from artists like Teddy Swims and Post Malone. I wanted to capture their organic, hand-played guitar energy. ‘Light’ became an optimistic love song, built on those acoustic layers before hitting my signature electronic release. It was a conscious artistic challenge to seamlessly connect those two seemingly opposed sonic spaces.

2. How does your creative process look? Is it a meticulous, thought-out approach, or do you often find inspiration from the mundane and the spontaneous?

My process is best described as disciplined creativity. It always begins with the most spontaneous element: melody. I sit down with a core instrument, either a Nylon Guitar or the Santoor and make the foundational melody first. This melody carries the entire emotional weight of the song.

The meticulous part is building the universe around it, and crucially, doing everything in-house. Once the composition is complete, the process moves into the engineering phase. I handle the mixing and mastering using a hybrid analogue/digital workflow, leveraging the warmth of physical analogue gear alongside the precision of high-end plugins. This complete, end-to-end control, done all under one roof, ensures that the initial artistic intent of the melody is flawlessly maintained through to the final master. It’s the disciplined effort of framing an ancient, spontaneous melody in a modern, engineered sound environment.

3. You are exceptional at the EDM genre. What pulled you towards electronica in the first place?

The initial pull was pure spectacle and energy discovering artists like Hardwell and Alesso and witnessing the massive energy of Tomorrowland in my youth. I was captivated by the idea of complete sonic control the ability for one person, through sound design, to create an entire, emotionally transportive world. The crucial shift came when KSHMR. He demonstrated that you could fuse that explosive electronic power with the beautiful, complex structures of traditional and classical music. That moment showed me how my early classical training could be leveraged as a sophisticated, unique element within my electronic compositions.

4. Describe your art to someone who is stepping into your musical world for the first time.

My art is Sonic Fusion. Imagine taking the soulful, richly layered acoustic melodies of a great pop songwriter like Teddy Swims and carefully framing them within the precise, high-definition sound environment of cinematic electronic music. You get the warmth and emotional depth of the organic pop genres from my roots, but you also get the sharp, professional clarity and powerful bass end of a track engineered in London. My goal is simple: I make music that aims to be an emotional release, proving that a track engineered for the dance floor can also have profound soul.

5. How has your musical journey been so far? Has it been smooth or unpredictable? What has been your biggest takeaway from all the years as an artist?

My journey has been unpredictable, yet defined by relentless determination. It was certainly not smooth. Losing my father in 2020 was a painful turning point. But that instability led to absolute clarity: my family’s unwavering support motivated me to commit 100% to music.

My biggest takeaway from all these years is the power of discipline and artistic authenticity. You cannot chase success; you can only commit to your personal best every day. My dedication to that focused practice and staying true to my unique blend of sound is why I’m receiving press coverage now. Persistence, especially when navigating personal challenges, is the only way to earn true confidence in your voice.

6. What are your top three favourite tracks from your entire discography and why?

1 “Light”: This is my current favourite because it marked a successful artistic evolution. It was technically challenging to blend organic, hand-played guitars and soulful pop so seamlessly with my electronic signature, but the result is the most optimistic and artistically rewarding piece I’ve created yet.

2 “Jealous”: This track is essential because it cemented my identity in the retro dance-pop space. It’s a precise fusion of 80s/90s style synths and modern production techniques with an instantly catchy melody. It was also the track that earned my breakthrough press coverage in publications like Hammarica and Urban Vault.

3 “Orbit”: This track is a favourite because it’s pure, driving rhythmic energy. It’s a great example of high-energy electro-pop infused with a complex Moombahton-style drop. It showcases my dedication to the pure, driving force of the dancefloor and complex rhythmic composition
