While exploring various Latin genres, Jon developed a particular affinity for Brazilian jazz. This passion led to a fellowship from the Brazilian government to teach at PUC-Rio, where he collaborated with legendary figures including A.C. Jobim and Hermeto Paschoal. His Brazilian career included US Embassy-sponsored shows, national television appearances, and performances with multi-instrumentalist Carlos Malta at Rio’s premier venues.
