Ellis King is a singer-songwriter and alt folk artist. Life spills all over her new EP, ‘All That Comes After’, as she makes sense of the change, emotional complexity, timing, heartache, and growing pains. Despite the universal themes, the artist brings a refreshing perspective to it. Almost light and playful both in style and tone. It doesn’t tire the listener out with dreary notions and details, but tells stories with alive and awakened emotions.

‘Nosedive’ lifts up out of a broken relationship. Like a shipwreck, there is tragedy but also treasure in the lyrics. The style is reminiscent of Taylor Swift and a little bit of Phoebe Bridgers. ‘Emergency Contact’ is intimate, vulnerable, and softly heartbroken. Instantly endearing as you go through its warm air.
Taking us into ‘Hold My Breath’ has an informal, cinematic build. Full of imagery and flowering instrumentals, the song blooms like spring. There is melancholy and heartache, but there is also healing and meaning. ‘fitymi’ lifts this plane a little higher. A self-reflection that rises into beautiful crescendos of epiphany and growth. A pop track that feels incredibly magical and affecting. ‘The Blueprint’ concludes this collection. It has an air of epilogue about it. With literary lyrics, elongated by country instrumentals and chunky acoustics, the song seemingly forms in the aftermath. It catches an upward drift, flowing but rooted in self-love, healing, and life. All set to release on 20th February on all major streaming platforms!
