ET-You

ET-You

There are several indie artists exploring rap, too many to mention. ET is one of them, but they stand above the rest. The simplicity in lyrical experimentation and relatable lyrics of the self and the immediate world we feel tend to resonate. Their music is transcendental in that sense, inspired by several artists like The Weeknd, Juice WRLD etc. They now tread on a new path finding new music. You is their latest single.

Riding the tide on a simple hip-hop beat, the sing-song rap is the core of this song. The lyrics are touching and inspiring, creating a self-sufficed that the artist breaks out of. With lyrics that create a simple premise that we all feel, this is talking about someone else through you. It makes for an elegant context to create a track that’s well worth the listen.

It can be assumed safely that the song doesn’t stretch itself out. The delivery is precise, not much is lost in deafening sounds and tone experimentations for a progressive type feel. The verses are compact and as they are catchy, worth singing along to after a couple of listens. I appreciate how ET hasn’t used excessive autotune to morph their natural voice, it sounds light and expressive in this track.
