Zerp – Time (Is Bigger) | Futuristic

Zerp is the other half of Sophic Bloom. Using a unique blend of Electronica and Indie, Zerp creates a very futuristic vibe. By doing all the work on his own, he is given complete creative freedom to explore himself in his music. There is no fixed genre, that you can define his music by, and that is why he recommends listening to various albums to have to full Zerp experience.

Time (Is Bigger) is a very Electronica-heavy track. It focuses on this repetitive, hypnotic arpeggio that simply enchants the listener. The beat is exotic, to say the least. It is simple but majestic and lays the rhythmic foundation for the rest of the track. The instrumental sounds like what the future would probably sound like. It gives me some intense Samurai Jack meets Gorillaz vibe – and I love both! The hits and jabs from the instrumental add a percussive effect, rather than harmonising with the melody line. I like the Vocodexed vocals the most. Additionally, they add this texture that is similar to the grunge that Sophic Bloom is more well-known for.

I think that Time (Is Bigger) is supposed to be one of the pioneering steps towards a more futuristic take on music. Moreover, It feels like there’s something bigger than the music in this track. It feels like this is an introduction to a newer Zerp – one who experiments more with his Electronica.
