Formed in 1981 in Brisbane by musician Bruce Neilsen, The Immaculate Crows forged an eclectic indie rock sound over three decades. Breaking up in 1985, Bruce reunited with original member Mark Hocknell in 2019 to record new material touching on punk, psychedelia, and new wave. While Mark has since departed, Bruce continues collaborating with a loose collective of singers like KM Steele, Jessica Shipley, and Daphne Mae. Produced now by Carolyn Neilsen, The Immaculate Crows’ catalog ranges from roots to R&B, unafraid to grapple with social issues through love songs with edges. Reminiscent of acts like Pink Floyd and Patti Smith yet hard to define, their retrospective yet refreshingly unique recordings keep this shape-shifting band’s creative journey evolving.
