Let us find out what the listeners can expect from the EP.
The latest EP by Charlie Freeman, Reconnection consists of four songs and runs for a duration of fourteen minutes and one second, but even though it covers a very short span of time, but the listeners are surely going to be in for a treat within this little time once they tune in to the songs and hit the play button. In addition to its overall atmospheric, thematic soundscape, the songs of this EP come off as fresh and new kind of pop music with subtle, yet very impactful sonic elements of folk, alternative, and rock.
Let’s dive deeper into each of the songs in this EP.
The EP opens with the song Not Tomorrow, and this track is a groovy track with its steady straight-beat rhythm where the drums and percussion shine with the muted guitar lines complementing the groove, on top of which the spacey synth layers keep the progression moving beautifully. Bluebird is the song that follows, and this track is a blissful composition where only the strumming of a guitar creates a sonic canvas on which Charlie Freeman’s beautiful voice paints the picture with some string sections adding a tasteful orchestral colour to the soundscape.
Not just originals, this EP also has a reimagined version of a legendary song.
In addition to the first two original songs in the EP, the third one in the list is a cover of Bob Marley’s Redemption Song where the surprising aspect is the fact that he completely avoids any sort of imitation and instead adds his own personal touch to the classic which is really worth a listen because you get to enjoy a fresh reimagination of the song. Besides these three tracks, the EP closes with one more song named Two Witches, and this song is a very ambient, atmospheric composition with some soothing guitars that add to the overall texture of the song, along with some dreamy, spaced-out synth lines that bring in a sonic flavour that feels like an inspiration from the compositional styles of Radiohead.
