From the opening notes, we’re gently brought into a nice downtempo hip-hop sound that Mandy lays down the vocals for. The basses play a nice setup, steadily helping build the energy in this track till the hook, which is punchy and energetic in its flow. One of the many standout parts of “Caught The Bug” is the fluent use of post-hook refrains that serve as excellent transitions into the verses, and on this track, it’s done excellently well. The instruments are bold and full of life, and it’s quite something, really, with the drumming as well playing an excellent part in holding the rhythms together.

Towards the end of the song, we’re put through a series of sections that make great use of vocal layers, and the result is a warm atmosphere of voices that surround and cover your listening space, and it sounds quite special. The mix is lively throughout, and coupled with the great instrument choices, it seamlessly does the balance between the creative and the technical elements of the mix, both of which are done well. The low-end control and the dynamics keep “Caught The Bug” an interesting listen, and I for one, am left a fan!
