Arn-Identified Flying Objects and Alien Friends is the solo project of Swedish artist Arne Floryd, formerly of Redmoon. Launched in 2020, the project blends indie folk, chamber pop, and soft rock with classic pop drama. Now, his recent single The Crow captures that approach through a nostalgic, emotionally weighted sound.

The Crow moves like a slow exhale, carrying the ache of old records and late-night confessions. The song moves slowly and deliberately, letting its soft rock foundation feel worn and lived-in rather than polished. Warm, vintage tones stretch across the arrangement, and when the strings and English horn emerge, they don’t decorate the song, they ache within it, swelling at emotional pressure points and giving the track a sweeping, cinematic sense of loss.
Lyrically, the track lives inside isolation. “There was a time when you were not here… when I was free to walk through the city” doesn’t just remember freedom, it mourns it. As the chorus arrives, the imagery turns brutal and unforgettable. Loneliness becomes a presence, “like a crow by the head of my bed,” feeding on what’s already dead. The lowered vocal delivery, supported by layered harmonies, drags the weight of regret downward rather than releasing it.

Meanwhile, the song paints a city haunted by an absence. Every street feels familiar and unbearable at once, as if love lingers in shop windows and alleyways long after it’s gone. Later, the line “There was a time when I wasn’t bad” lands quietly but cuts deep, suggesting a self reshaped by loss rather than time.
Finally, The Crow gathers itself for one last emotional climb. The vocals rise, the band swells, and the song closes with dramatic resolve, not as release, but as acceptance of a loneliness that still breathes.
