Swedish artist Arn-Identified Flying Objects and Alien Friends returns with a new single titled ‘The Crow‘. The project by musician Arne Floryd, ex-member of Swedish band Redmoon, has been putting out some really good indie pop folk music over the last few years. Starting around 2020, with early releases like the disco-tinged single “Suck” and the double album “17 Birds at the Summer’s Gate,” blending 60s/70s pop, folk, rock, and bits of punk and Americana.

With ‘The Crow’, we get a more laid back song. The track builds up at its own sweet pace, which is how it’s meant to be heard. Strings and horns build up with the minimal drums and vocal harmonies popping up intermittingly. The song builds up to a full chorus with some really sweet arrangement and leaves you with a good feel. Arn-Identified Flying Objects and Alien Friends does a splendid job.
Floyd has mentioned that he intended to write a song with a Bolero groove and the saccharine vocals with strings and English horn at the right moments, although unintentionally, it ended up giving a nod to Roy Orbison. In my opinion, the music here would remind you of artists like Chris Isaak, and the retro feel here is definitely something to savour.
‘The Crow’ by Arn-Identified Flying Objects and Alien Friends feels like an artist unwinding and indulging in timeless influences while standing firmly in his own sound. Arne Floryd’s songwriting continues to shimmer with warmth and restraint, proving that nostalgia and originality can coexist beautifully. It’s an understated gem that rewards every attentive listen.
