Antsud Metal Project Transforms Finnish Folk into a Metal Gem with Suvetar

Taking a traditional Finnish folk song and transforming it into a full-fledged metal anthem, Estonian band Antsud Metal Project creates magic with their latest release Suvetar. Continuing in the tradition of bands like Amorphis, which used the Kalevala, the epic poem of Finland, as a source of lyrics. Estonian being a sister language to Finnish, the band draws on the rich regional cultural heritage. They blend symphonic textures with crushing riffs to create something powerful and deeply evocative.

From the very first ten seconds, Suvetar grabs you with a compelling chord progression before launching into a chunky riff backed by bass and relentless double bass drumming. The synths add an epic touch as the verses unfold, creating a layered soundscape that feels both grand and immersive. Throughout the track, Antsud Metal Project masterfully balances low-end guitar chugging with symphonic flourishes, delivering a song that’s as awe-inspiring as it is headbang-worthy.

The band describes Suvetar as an ode to Mother Nature, celebrating midsummer, rebirth, and humanity’s connection to the natural world. The track reflects that vision with its soaring vocal choirs, sweeping string sections, and ethereal synths. Djent-style guitar work and thunderous drumming add a modern metal bite to the folk-inspired melodies, making for a dynamic and engaging listening experience. The song is also accompanied by a great music video featuring fire dance and stunning cinematography.

Antsud Metal Project’s Suvetar is a stunning fusion. If you love symphonic, folk, progressive, or alternative metal, this is one song you don’t want to miss!
