The new update announcement by YouTube suggests that starting on 15th October 2024, creators can go ahead and upload Shorts up to three minutes in length. According to YouTube, this feature update was a top request from creators, and thus, the release was of prime focus. The changes that this new feature brings in are only applicable to videos whose aspect ratio is square or taller, and it will not impact the videos uploaded before 15th October 2024.

One of the other features that YouTube adds to Shorts is the ability to tap into YT content from the Shorts camera itself, thereby making the work of remixing clips from videos and music videos easier for creators. Besides that, mobile users can now quickly discover what’s trending in their country with the help of a new trending Shorts page that YouTube has brought with this update. Moreover, the comments section has also undergone a slight change with this update, where now mobile users can find the comments of people right from the Shorts feed before they head to the comments section
In case of Shorts appearing too often or frequently in your feed, with this new update, YouTube gives you a solution for that as well because now, in the settings menu, you will find an option that says ‘Show Fewer Shorts’. YouTube suggests that when you choose this option, this feature will temporarily lessen the number of Shorts in the Home Feed of the users.
