XXXTENTACION #1 on Spotify’s Most Streamed RAP Albums List Ahead of Drake and Travis Scott

XXXTENTACION’s 2018 Album “?” Tops Spotify’s List of Most Streamed Rap Albums Ever

Late rapper XXXTENTACION continues to leave his mark even after his untimely passing. His album “?” has claimed the number one spot on Spotify’s all-time most streamed rap albums list, according to the streaming platform’s recent announcement. The top five rankings also include Drake’s “Scorpion” at number two, “Views” at number three, Juice WRLD’s “Goodbye & Good Riddance” at number four, and Travis Scott’s “Astroworld” at number five.

Surprising as it may be to some, “?” deserves the recognition when considering the data. Notably, four tracks on the album have surpassed a billion streams individually, namely “hope,” “changes,” and the chart-topping sensation “moonlight.” The album’s most successful track, “SAD!,” has now amassed over two billion streams, securing its position as the 50th most-streamed song on Spotify.

“I’m Not Human” Released on Death Anniversary

This news follows the recent five-year anniversary of XXXTENTACION’s passing. In commemoration, his estate released a new posthumous track called “I’m Not Human.” Originally intended for release on the Florida star’s 25th birthday in January, the song was instead held back until his death anniversary.

The acoustic rendition, featuring vocals by Lil Uzi Vert and production credits by long-time collaborator John Cunningham, has a minimalistic feel. Cunningham, who shared a note alongside the song’s release, reminisced about the time spent with XXXTENTACION. He mentioned how they used to spend hours together in Florida, with him playing the guitar while XXXTENTACION sang. The magic happened when XXXTENTACION first sang “I’m not human” to the tune Cunningham played. They both knew it was special. Despite attempting to record vocals in the studio a few times, XXXTENTACION preferred the original voice memo. Thus, the decision was made to include it in the official version of the song.

XXXTENTACION was assassinated during a robbery in Deerfield Beach, FL, in 2018. Earlier this year, the three men charged with his murder were sentenced to life in prison without parole. Listen to the rapper’s posthumous song released June 18 below:
