A Song That Never Stops Teaching

When asked what song she has been playing on repeat, Meg points to a classic.

“Crying in the rain, even though I’ve learned it by Whitesnake, even though I’ve learned it and I’ve performed it over and over. No matter how many times you listen to that, there will always be so much more to learn. It’s just the power of John Sykes.”

She explains how listening closely always reveals something new.

“I always listen to my favorites with headphones and it just… and I never noticed that and so there’s always something new to learn from that song.”

Discovering the Stage Early

Music filled Meg’s home from a young age. Her father played in a band, and she watched him perform regularly. One moment made everything clear.

“That’s when I realized, oh, the stage is where I want to be because when you’re standing there and you just you close your eyes and you feel the music and you just sing your heart out because you love the sound of music and what it does to your heart.”

Another early memory dates back to when she was four years old.

“I just walked out of my bedroom in my pajama and dad was playing an acoustic guitar.”

That moment stayed with her and shaped everything that followed.

Loving Rock From the Start

At school, Meg quickly realized her musical taste differed from most of her classmates.

“I’ll go back home and I’ll be like, my best friend doesn’t know Whitney Houston. My best friend doesn’t know Shania Twain. My best friend doesn’t know Led Zeppelin.”

She stayed committed to what she loved, even when others did not share the same references.

“How can they not know Led Zeppelin?”

Practice and Writing Songs

Meg speaks openly about practice and discipline. She enjoys learning solos and working until they feel natural.

“I try my best to practice as much as I can.”

Her original song Find My Way grew out of online performances during lockdown and difficult moments.

Music Before Everything Else

Throughout the conversation, Meg keeps returning to one simple idea. Music comes first.

“At the end of the day, you’re not going to focus on what’s the number of the fret. You’re going to focus on the fact that it came out properly and it came out the way you wanted it to be sounding.”

As the Christmas special closes, she leaves listeners with a clear sense of direction.

“This is where my heart belongs. So I’m just doing this.”
