Its always an interesting sequence of events when an artist takes the existing and works innovatively for a change. Azuma is the artist of this weekend, with his single Tell Em. It’s a catchy pop song with R&B and soul vibes but does something to bring about a change.
The mainstream option would be to overload the song with several textures to cover up for the lack of effort in the song. Azuma does the opposite, with a wispy, almost non-existent synth flow setting a cool undertone for the track. The focus is his voice and lyrics, because he’s here to tell you.
As a precursor to the art show you’re about to hear, the focus is on the artist frequency he operates at. Tell Em is stepping stone to something much greater, and that’s why every step counts. The songs beats and synths are aided electronically, but the soul you search for in music can be counted on.
He isn’t totally obscure though. True music fans that follow indie artists might know him from his popular hit with Patience called Define, and now he’s building his own portfolio. His earlier single from this year is also worth a listen, All Stars– a synth heavy hip-hop tune with some groovy beats.
The chord progression is something I’ve heard as a staple in many songs to be honest, and that cant be changed. So, what has the potential to, that Azuma changes. The song tricks your dopamine levels through the roof and is a very addictive track, so make sure you follow this artist for more tracks with fresh nuances. He also released a party song What’s Next in 2020, and that means positive vibes only.
