Gorillaz are on the move. A new record featuring dead artists that’s set to be a statement of global acculturation, is arriving in the spring of 2026.
Gorillaz have announced their upcoming album, The Mountain (or ‘Parvat’ as the cover art reads), set to drop on March 20, 2026 through their newly launched label, Kong. The record marks their first studio project since 2023’s Cracker Island and features 15 tracks. Leading the release is the single “Happy Dictator,” a theatrical collaboration with art-pop duo Sparks.
The India Connection – Worldwide Recording Journey
The band recorded The Mountain with producers James Ford, Samuel Egglenton, and Remi Kabaka Jr., along with additional production contributions by Argentine sensation Bizarrap.
Sessions took place at Albarn’s Studio 13 in London and a studio of his in Devon, as well as ones across Mumbai, New Delhi, Rajasthan, Varanasi, Ashgabat, Damascus, Los Angeles, Miami, and New York. This global sweep reflects the band’s ongoing commitment to blending diverse musical influences into their animated universe.
A Wide-Ranging Guest List & Voices From the Past
As with past projects, Gorillaz invited a varied roster of collaborators. Confirmed guests include Idles, Kara Jackson, Yasiin Bey, Johnny Marr, Black Thought, Anoushka Shankar, and Omar Souleyman. The record features vocals in Arabic, English, Hindi, Spanish, and Yoruba, underlining its cross-cultural scope.
The Mountain also incorporates archival contributions from legendary artists who are no longer with us, including Bobby Womack, Dave “Trugoy the Dove” Jolicoeur, Dennis Hopper, Mark E. Smith, Proof, and Tony Allen. Tracks such as “The Moon Cave,” “The Hardest Thing,” and “Damascus” highlight the record’s expansive and cinematic direction.

To support the release, Gorillaz will be going on a UK–Ireland arena tour. The run includes dates in Manchester, Birmingham, Glasgow, Leeds, Cardiff, Nottingham, Liverpool, Belfast, and Dublin, alongside a London stadium show scheduled for the summer. Sparks and Argentine rapper Trueno will join select dates on the road.
The Mountain happens to be just the kind of album with which Gorillaz continue their tradition of blending boundary-pushing visuals, eclectic collaborations, and sharp social commentary, thereby solidifying their reputation as one of music’s most inventive alternative acts.
