Singer-Songwriter, Ajaye Consoles a Yearning Heart in Latest Single, ‘Growing Up’

Singer-songwriter and alt folk artist, Ajaye explores the melancholy of growing pains in her sophomore single, Growing Up. With nostalgia infused storytelling frames, the song spins the aimlessness and lost feelings of youth into positive swirls of magic. Using familiar and relatable narratives from her own life, she strings it all using golden acoustic lines, reminiscent of the reviving Japanese art, Kintsugi. And much like the golden paint, Ajaye’s words remind us to stay optimistic when things fall apart and to celebrate the flaws and missteps of life.

The track is dressed in contemplative melodies, glinting through Ajaye’s sopranos. They form lilting continuum spheres with specks of folk and country seamlessly blended into each other. However the highlight in this simplistic rendition is the lyrical thread that connects us all with humane denominators. Its universality reminds the listener that mistakes, messes, broken hearts, and spilt milk is part of growing up.

The live rendition is published on YouTube. It’s a more intimate and bare piece, in a way that relates beautifully to a yearning and lonely heart. Listeners of early Miley Cyrus and Taylor Swift are sure to appreciate the heartfelt wisdom and consolation of this track. Listen Now!
