Etim-Inyang debuts with his single, Lights Out. The singer-songwriter has a delightful understanding of music and seemingly wonderful soul; both of which give rise to a universal style that appeals to everyone.
The artist has a penchant to combine diverse musical styles to create beautiful soundscapes with a universal appeal. His artistic vision and sound palettes are inspired by his childhood memories of his father casually singing whilst playing the guitar and the classics his grandmother often listened to on blast. In addition to the guitar, Inyang also plays the clarinet and saxophone which he learnt in school and university respectively.
This autobiographical composition is both personal and intimate as the artist bares his soul to us. The chunky acoustics combine dreamily with the stripped-down raspy vocals. Rivulets of soulful harmonies embellish and amplify the evocative canvas of the song. Reminiscent of Leon Bridges, Ed Sheeran, and Sam Smith, the artist materializes his artistic vision with vocals as the primary centerpiece.
The song is an excellent debut single. Its vulnerability and heartfelt rendition instantly connects the listener to the artist and his spirit. And the homegrown sound further drives up the charm of the song.
