P.M.Tiger – Catfish Motel | iNDIE Wave

Florida indie pop rock band P.M.Tiger has a new irresistible song for us titled Catfish Motel. Hailing from Tampa, FL, known as a hub for metal, the city has also been churning out some quality indie rock.

The band had Gordon Raphael, producer of modern indie garage rock revival legends The Strokes, on their debut LP, MY LOVE MUSiC, released earlier this year. When Plain White T’s Tom Higgenson of “Hey There Delilah” fame praises your mustache, there is bound to be some magic in P.M.Tiger.

With minuscule noisy grains and vocals, the song begins with light synths drenched in reverbed chorus and shimmering ends. Then fuzzy guitars set in and the beat kicks in. A firm catchy groove is established by the locked in tight rhythm section of the fuzzy guitars, bass, and drums. The verse barely lasts and you are pushed into the sonic wave that is the chorus. Guitars, drums, and vocals work off of each other to give a cascading satisfying resolution effect in the chorus. What a song!

The lyrics work for the rhythmic and metrical aspects of the songwriting. Song dynamics are firmly in the grasp of the band, which is evident from their composition. Making us wait for the right moments and surprising the listener which is what good songwriting does. With the standard rock template, the band makes apt use of synths and vocal harmonies. With Catfish Motel, P.M.Tiger establish themselves as a tight indie pop rock act with their chops well defined.
