Algorithm – Amanda Holley | Lush

When it comes to songwriting, it is sometimes to know just as much about the instruments you write your songs with, as you know about yourself, the themes your write with, or the voices (including your own) that you may end up working with. Amanda Holley is an example of the kind of songwriter that, not being shy of words, I would describe as the all-knowing seamstress of melodies. Over the course of my review of “Algorithm” by Amanda Holley, you will find out why I say what I just did.

Amanda’s releases, “CODE” & “Runaway” from her coming E.P., “The HolleyGraphic EP”, in collaboration with Billboard charting producer/songwriters Davis Chris, Shane Foster, & Cecily Wagner marked her entry into the world of modern music, as did her performances across many world-renowned venues like the Carnegie Hall. This kind of songwriting experience is almost always a guaranteed formula for competent releases, and “Algorithm” continues on the trend.

The instrumentation is distinctly Hollywood-esque in the best ways– it has a modern sound, with the kind of choices of elements standing out as meticulous, and tasteful. The song adopts a nice midtempo rhythm complemented beautifully by the vocals Amanda delivers; and the two come together to curate a nice aural listening experience for anybody that comes across her work.

Technically, nothing glares to me about this mix. It is tight and powerful, with adequate space in the field to give each element its own space, and the energy and dynamics within the song is done and managed quite well. I was thoroughly impressed with the kind of experience that this song ultimately brought to me. check out “Algorithm” by Amanda Holley here-
