UK-based Longtooth & Wasterman is a duo band that is sure to get your adrenaline pumping. Greg Semple and Karl Traae are the masterminds behind Longtooth & Wasterman, with Bud (Greg) on Mac and Wasterman (Karl) on guitar. They write and sing their own songs, which are heavily influenced by punk music. But they also incorporate elements of hip-hop, drum & bass, and everything else that is hard and banging. Wasterman has a notable musical background, and his alter persona Pete Brock is a founding member of the band 9 o’clock Nasty.
They are back with a new single, “You Should Fear Us.” “You Should Fear Us” is full of extravagant sound and beats, making it impossible not to get hooked, whether you are looking for classic hooks or high energy. The track starts out with an explosive, guitar-heavy intro that sets the tone for the rest of the song. I am in awe of the vocals’ intensity, which is impassioned and high-pitched. The wide range of tones keeps the song interesting without getting stuck in one groove for too long! The vivacity remains high throughout, but there are some moments where it feels like the band has slowed down and taken a breath, which is nice to hear. The drums are so powerful that you can feel every hit on your chest. The song keeps itself busy with a steady stream of powerful riffs, driving drums, and pounding bass lines, all while telling a story that is sure to get your blood pumping because the power of the music is palpable.
