Everything But The Everything – Never Said | Hazy Goth Post Punk

Modern New Wave post-punk indie genius Izzy The Gent aka Everything But The Everything never stops mesmerizing us. A case in point is his latest single Never Said.

Never Said features the Bay Area veteran bassist Izzy The Gent with ace Oregon vocalist and opera singer Sophia Prise. The name of the project is a play on the name Everything But The Girl whose song Missing is legendary. Much like them, Analog synths and an 80s post-punk derived DNA is what is filled in Never Said.

The song begins with a splashing hit of the cymbals and a gritty bass line. Super fuzzy filtered guitar come in as the mesmerizing vocals by Sophia Prise seep into the song. The multi-layered guitar and arrangement is audible in its hazy density. Vocal harmonies and synth production is mind dazzling in the chorus. Some great songwriting and stunning execution and sonic vision in this dazzling song that will keep you mesmerized.

Sophia Prise and Izzy The Gent have collaborated before on the song The Story in 2020 and the song Just. EBTE has had a prolific discography over the years with stunning collaborators like Golden Plates, Tobias Hawkins, Olivia Barchard, Luke Sweeney, and Vacances. Izzy rooted in the punk music and ethos has been a DJ and club promoter as well and picked up the bass again for the band The Frail with making music under the project Everything But The Everything.

Smoky gothic indie rock haze would be a good combination of words to describe the crazy sound of Never Said.
