Sonic Boom is a 2022 EDM album by Gem FM and it brings you everything you want about dance music. Everything from the track listing to the individual tracks scream of an attempt of an album that deserves to be heard and even more than that an album that should be played for the audience to dance to. Functionally speaking the album delivers a tour de force from start to finish on creating a sense of urgency to let loose on the dance floor for anybody who is passionate about the genre as a whole and every song is crafted in such a way that even the most casual of listeners would have an exemplary time paying attention to the finer musical elements of each track.
If you’re someone who loves the sound of the classic 808 beats then this album is sure to blow you away with its clever use of the hi hats, kicks and snare hits that sound like pure ear candy through and through. What is more impressive is the fact that this level of quality is consistent throughout the album and no track feels like it lacks any attention or love from the producer. The opening track SwagR right off the gate sends an impressive first impression with the use of trumpets sounding synths coupled with some tasty bells throughout and the use of cleverly layered melodic elements and a gorgeous bet from start to finish. This is followed closely by 4banger which as the name rightly suggests is a banger by itself with some cowbells to kick it off and the use of flutes and synths that leave you yearning for more. RazL is the next song on the list and it catches you off guard with the latin sounds which is a stark contrast to what we’ve been used to from the previous songs hence show the diversity in composition of Gem FM in being able to create completely different styles of music. Krawler is the next song on the album and features a slower tempo with distorted guitars innovatively used to feel impactful and just when you think you have heard it all Serrated comes through with an even more jungle feels with some beautiful synths that showcase the width of the stereo panning. L2dR and Boodal goes back to a more experimental setting with its peculiar use of the main melody and healthy obsession with overall tightness of the tracks. And finally the album ends with the track Slide on Down that serves as a slower but just as enjoyable summation of everything we’ve come to expect from this album albeit with a more swinging beat and and overall fun aesthetic to close it all off in style.
Gem FM and Sonic Boom is an album that deserves a listen for its amazingly diverse sound and overall enjoyability. Just a fun time from the opening track to the final track.
