The singer, songwriter, and multi-instrumentalist hailing from Shanghai and raised in Toronto, PIAO is quickly making a name for herself in the music industry. The fourth song on PIAO’s album, “Haunted by potential,” evokes a mix of emotions.
The song begins with PIAO’s voice and some melodic piano playing. The lyrics are vulnerable and expressive, and they talk about anxiety while growing up and achieving goals. The lines, “If the younger me saw who I am today Would she wish that things had gone some other way,” are especially poignant. It resonates with me because it captures the feeling of not knowing whether we’re making the right choices in life. This song is special to me because it helps me to remember that everyone feels this way at some point in their lives. We’re all haunted by potential. And that’s okay. What matters is that we keep moving forward and striving to reach our goals.
“Hannah Montana” is the perfect song to close out PIAO’s album. The song begins with a simple guitar chord but quickly builds into an extremely peppy tune with her highly energetic vocals. The drums and electric guitar add an extra layer of energy and excitement to the track, making it impossible not to move to the music.
PIAO’s latest album is a must-listen. Incredibly crafted lyrics, outstanding musical arrangements, and PIAO’s powerhouse vocals come together to create a truly moving experience.
