Northwest UK indie pop rock band Sleeping Together returns with their sophomore single Money & Nicotine, a song you would keep spinning. Their debut single Summer Girl was a fun catchy song that we enjoyed to no end and helped us get rid of the summer blues. With Money & Nicotine, Sleeping Together recreates the magic but with a nocturnal joy vibe.
The band had a virtual genesis during the lockdown, being formed over Facetime, the video call app. The band consists of Alexander Lloyd-Jones (Vocalist), Jason Javier Dominguez (Drums), Ryan Williams (Bass Guitar), and Mike Corry (Lead Guitar).
The track begins with a spicy rhythm to a tight drum beat. This is coupled with energetic vocals and a catchy guitar riff hook. The riff is then harmonized with the filter submerged in the next verse. Vocal harmonies greet us with this concoction of musical goodness. You cannot help but move to this amazing chorus with the guitars, melodies, vocals and most importantly the groove done right. The tight production and impeccable performances by the band solidify this solid composition.
With a melody that locks in with the groove, the song exudes strong groove power and riffs which propel it forward. Conceived by vocalist Alex, the lyrics caution us against losing ourselves when looking for the next thrill. Irrespective of the banality of life, being and enjoying the moment with friends instead of running after harmful petty desires. Sleeping Together with Money & Nicotine continues on its path of bringing big beats, catchy riffs, and good vibes back to the Indie scene.
