Pixy Jones – Bits n Bobs | Full of the joys of spring

Pixy Jones is a Welsh musician and songwriter best known for his work with the psych-rock band El Goodo. With El Goodo, Jones released four albums of experimental and psychedelic music. As a solo artist, Pixy has a distinctively different sound than what he created with El Goodo.  He is a talented and versatile musician, and Bits N Bobs is a strong debut album that showcases his many strengths.

Pixy’s new album has 13 songs in total. The opening track, “I’m Not There.” Melding the swooping melodies with the rhythm and drive of a rock song, Pixy Jones has created a piece that will inspire new styles and ways of expressing emotion in music. With its ethereal beauty and captivating soundscapes, this song will take over your mind, so you can’t help but be drawn in by its irresistible pull.

In “I Got Lost,” you can really feel the mellow rhythm and dreamy soundscape. The guitar work is amazing, and the drums complement it perfectly as well. It’s like a song that you are listening to while being “lost on the way back home.” The song is packed with gorgeous melodies and hypnotic rhythms that draw you into its world like a moth to a flame.

“Hold Your Tongue” is an old-school rock that contains everything that anyone could want. Riffs, attitude, energy and pure raw power! Will travel well in your car or on the headphones while doing housework or walking in the park.

“Confusion” suddenly shifts from the raw energy of the previous song to a soothing aura. It has a bright vibe to it, while the verse is soft and gentle. The chorus is charming, and the instrumentals are interesting too. The instrumental melts me into a peaceful yet uplifting state of mind.

A staple of 60s and 70s music, “Bad Throat” is a must-listen. The guitar work, the quirky vocals, and the upbeat rhythm and melody take you back to the era. If you like your music funky and quirky, this is just for you!

I have to say, the song “The Fool” is one of my favorite songs on the album. From the retro vibe to the ambient sound, it’s all about the atmosphere. The mysterious theme of this song is also perfect for that, plus the clear voice with that classic vibe makes this an awesome song.

“Through the Valley” is flawless. It soothes my soul. I love the way it grows and changes with the music, going from a calm melody to an anthem chorus. The bass lines are groovy, and the guitar parts with layers of harmonics fit together perfectly.

“Maureen Dreams No More” and “Wind Street” are timeless and infectious rock songs. They make you feel like you are listening to a rock band that is playing energetic retro rock songs that lifts your spirit in no time.

If you’re looking for a fun and easy song to motivate you to take life easy, look no further than “There’s Something Wrong.” The musical arrangements are bound to put a smile on your face, and the chorus is just perfect. I couldn’t help but tap my feet along with the song.

“I’m Coming Home” is such a relatable song for anyone who has moved away from home and then experienced the joy of coming back. The soundscape and lyrics perfectly capture the feeling of nostalgia and happiness that comes with returning to a familiar place. It’s such a warm and fuzzy song that always made me feel good!

“After Dark” is a song that is otherworldly in its soundscapes and musical effects. When I first heard it, it blew my mind with its retro vibes and perfect ambiance. The song transports me to the era of 70s movie songs, and I absolutely love it for that.

“Dewch Draw” is the perfect ending to this incredible album. The guitars and vocals are so beautiful and moving that your head will just naturally bob along with the music. And the synth work is particularly great, adding an extra layer of interest to the track. It would be perfect for a show like “13 Reasons Why.”

If you’re looking for an album that’s both retro and modern, look no further than Bits N Bobs. This unique and creative album will take you on a musical journey that you won’t soon forget. From start to finish, you’ll be captivated by the intricate arrangements and infectious melodies. Whether you’re looking for a pick-me-up on a tough day or just want to experience something new, Bits N Bobs is the perfect album for you.
