PolSky – Halcyon Daze| Indie Extravaganza

British alternative/indie group PolSky are an act you do not wish to miss. With their single Halcyon Daze, they bring the best of indie music and stunning lyricism. Coming from the great tradition of British alternative music, they inspire from acts like The Cure, Duran Duran, and Joy Division. The band was formed by Kris Warren (vocals, guitar) who has been part of prolific groups like Shadow Orchestra (now Talk In Colour) and band BIB.

Halcyon Daze is the second single from the upcoming debut album which would be released next year. While the artwork for their previous single was a packet of cigarettes, this one has a medicine box of anti-anti-depressants. The band has adopted a corporate persona with great satirical effect. We are promised to be witnesses to themes like corporate zombification, video game addiction, and other things. Along with Kris, the board (band) consists of Senior Synth Architect, Ben Warn (keyboards), Rhythm Logistics Engineer, Alex Robertson (drums), and Low Frequency Systems Analyst Chris Norman (bass).

With a catchy guitar riff and vocals which are rooted in the best tradition of indie music, Halcyon Daze catches your attention. When the electronica infused extravaganza of a chorus kicks in, you’re taken by surprise. Even the bridge has the same effect. A Thriller-esque change in mood brings in shiny retro synths to an impeccable bridge with vocal harmonies and all.

A tight pop song you can’t stop spinning on repeat. The retro synths, groovy guitars and basslines, and drums take you by your feet. The song mixes the best of British funk, disco, and alternative rock in a neat little package. The impeccable songwriting combined with stunning production shows the songsmithing skills of PolSky.
