Ellis Hadlock Music-Timeless Moods | Ruminate

Elllis Hadlock is making his debut with us, with his instrumental album. Full of wonder, hope and enchanting melodies all flowing esoterically into each other, his music has an aim. It transcends time and explores emotions, elucidating them in complex waveforms. Let’s dive into this wondrous album, Timeless Moods.

Opening with Memories Inside, Ellis Hadlock sets a scope on hope. It is a soothing, calming tune that has highlights with flutes, as string and the ivory keys unite. Crystal Clear Solitude comes next, with a shower of angelic voices dominating the fore. They pulsate and fade, creating a textural complexity using a homogenous style. This sound is retrofitted into an electronic beat, which slowly fades into the background as the leads grow stronger and more effectual.

Abstruse amalgam

With shades of regret, comes the sound of The Look I See. It is a heartbreaking track, if really focused on. The melancholy is magnetizing, and it echoes longing and solitude in a way. With such pained and elusive notes, Ellis makes each fragment have immense gravitas. Floating to Somewhere comes next, with a returning melody. As it ascends, it descends, just like the momentary joy of suspension. All the effects and styles are planned to create a volume that depicts exactly the emotion the title explains. Notes that linger speak, the others whisper. Ellis Hadlock masters phrasing and compartmentalizing sound before sharing his masterpiece with us.

The Darker Way turns to an ominous reverberation that carries with it a sense of mystique. Like a cinema score, it develops using the concept of creatively producing a backstory without any words. It is a gift and difficult skill to develop and be proficient in. Steps of the Past holds time accountable for a sudden change in musicality. Like a moment of suspense and lingering doubt in a transfixing scene, this track too creates such a causal moment that can be paradoxical to read.

In minimal moments

At One Heart is the step before the showdown, and it hurdles over an epiphany. Using a uniform, simple, reverberating background, the lead moments echo with more clarity. Ellis Hadlock uses his experience to combine acoustic and electronic elements to create a very special song. Like a siren calling sailors at sea, this is the first instance of vocals we hear in this captivating album. The best track in terms of journey, with the spectrum shifting as seamlessly as can be.

The closing track is called Walking the Timeless, a dreamy affair using simple beats and tidal synth sounds. A special sound makes a cameo for a flourish or addition, and departs after dissolving the desired effect. The track is almost meditational in nature, and shows how well Ellis Hadlock can do with minimal soundboards.

There is a smorgasbord of styles, emotions and essences that Ellis uses in his album. Like the title suggests, it really is timeless, in the effect and controlling nature of the songs. Each song has been perfected to a detail before compiling it on this tremendous album. We can’t wait for you to hear the footsteps into greatness.

Self professed metalhead, moderately well read. If the music has soul, it's whole to me. The fact that my bio could have ended on a rhyme and doesn't should tell you a lot about my personality.
