Here are your interview questions & answers.

1.      Hey Amy! Congratulations on your new single, “Run It.” It’s a very distinctive composition! The song has a unique sound, with retro vibes. How did you come up with such a captivating song? Was there any specific inspiration for it that you would like to share with us?

A: Thank you! The song was written during the first week of the pandemic lockdown.  It was at a very strict and scary time in Los Angeles, and we were all confined to home.  So, the inspiration truly came from needing a place of release for my emotions and the need to create and be free.  My brother and co-producer Les Les had the musical idea ready for me to come and write to – and at the moment I arrived at his studio, I didn’t hesitate to jump into the booth and start laying down vocal ideas.  I really had a lot to get off my chest that day!  😉

2.      I see that the song is in collaboration with Les Les. How did the collaboration come about? What was his overall contribution to the song?

A: Les Les (aka big brother Les Correa) is the producer of this song and also co-wrote and produced my vocals.  He definitely pushed me to get to this ancient, yet forward sounding tribal vocal and started the session by having me freestyle the words and melody – much of which made it to the final lyrics.  This was our first collaboration after 4 years!  Previous to this, he produced and mixed much of my music when I was in different groups and bands, still developing and finding my sound.

3.      Do you have any plans to make more songs with Les Les in the future?

A: The great news is that Les Les is the Executive Producer alongside of myself on my newest album and collaborations.  He is an incredible Producer, DJ & Sound Designer and definitely has an upper hand when it comes to my production because he helped develop and inspire my tastes in music.

4.      How do you think the audience will receive ” Run It “?

A: I think they are gonna LOVE IT!  This song is refreshingly different and solidly dope!

5.      What is the most significant milestone as a musician for you?

A: I’d have to say my work with my husband Ricky Bell. He is a legendary voice and and is one of my favorite performers.  We have a duet entitled “Gold” that I feel is a timeless classic.

6.      Which two artists/bands would you like to collaborate with in the future?

A: I’d love to collaborate with Kaytranada and Harry Styles.  HMU! 🙂

7.      What’s currently in the works? Is there going to be a new single or an album?

A: I am about to drop a fantastic, cinematic music video for “Run It”.  I have a single coming entitled “Suddenly” in collaboration with Bootie Brown of The Pharcyde and Les Les that I’m extremely excited for everyone to hear.  Also, I’m currently working on my first ever solo album LP.  I know this will be my best work to date, and I can’t wait to share it with you!
