Arn-Identified Flying Objects and Alien Friend - Suck

Arn-Identified Flying Objects and Alien Friend – Suck | Jiving Pop

Arn-Identified Flying Objects and Alien Friend is the solo project of Swedish musician Arne Floryd, former member of the band Redmoon. His debut song Suck is a retro pop number that has a vintage feel. Suck was the debut single by Arn-Identified Flying Objects and Alien Friend and the ninth track in his album 17 Birds at Summer’s Gate. Arne launched the project in the summer of 2020 with a prolific output every since. This includes 3 singles in 2021, By Your Bed in 2002, along with the album.

We hear classic rock and power pop elements combined with disco in this song. Rhythmic catchiness and well arranged guitars ensure an infectious aural picture. Energy breeding pocket grooves combined with lush vocals and engaging hooks keep you spinning the song. The chord changes, in the beginning, are pretty neat and reminiscent of ABBA. The vocal harmonies which use call and response work quite aptly. While it contains a somber tinge, it primarily exudes a sunny vibe while providing a familiar feeling.

The theme of Suck deals with giving in artistic ideals for material gains, fitting in, and surviving. It is a universally relatable situation where the solitude and need for acceptance are felt. The guitar tones and arrangements manage to paint a canvass of pastel sonic shades. We can also find aspects of Scandinavian folk in this song that appears in the façade. The bridge contains eclectic chord changes which are formidable. Suck contains stimulating juvenile energy while simultaneously expressing melancholy and yearning. Suck is a rocking retro pop and rock song you will groove to.
