Oh Lonesome Ana – Rushing Lattice | Immersive Indie

Rising from the lanes of Sacramento, California comes a fresh indie rock band Oh Lonesome Ana. Their music comes from the tradition of The Shins, Mumford & Sons, and other such indie rock bands. Their song Rushing Lattice, from their upcoming debut album MEG/DETH TEE, is a breath of fresh air in the genre. Jack Shirley most prominently associated with post-metallers Deafheaven but also hardcore punk rockers Gouge Away, has recorded, mixed, and mastered the album. Oh Lonesome Ana consists of Ashley Maiden on the bass and vocals while Evan Bailey on guitars and keyboard. There is also Jacob Bradford on guitars and Zach Peach on drums and percussion.

The song begins with fading guitar sounds and prominent bass in a very evidently immersive mix. Clean slightly fuzzy guitars adorn the harmonic section of the song with some drum work which initially sounds deceivingly simple but is played with taste and to the song. We also vocal harmonies. The outro chorus has full gritty guitars enter to conclude the song in a blissful climax. As the song progresses, you realize that the layering of vocals with clean, delayed, and reverbed guitars and other elements work. It gives you the sense of flying in the clouds while pondering and reflecting deeply. The song lyrically deals with childhood memories and what is to be retained from them.

The song shows you can write inventive songs without crazy effects and fancy synths. With Grammy-nominated producer and sound engineer, Jack Shirley behind the console, we get a novel opulent auditory journey. The mix on this song is genuinely unique than a standard well-done mix. It is incredibly immersive with every element optimally loud giving a wholesome song listening experience, frankly not very common. Rushing Lattice is a beautiful modern indie rock song in a conventional configuration but innovative expression.
