Rose Thorn – Reciprocal Love | Searing Emotion

French-origin and Brighton, UK based singer-songwriter Rose Thorn has soulful passionate pop ballad with her latest release Reciprocal Love. Being part of funky pop-rock trio After Arden, 19-year-old singer Thorn shows her solo singing and compositional prowess in this act. With Reciprocal Love, Rose Thorn has had three single releases till now. This includes her jazzy debut Tigerwoman last year and the soul number Hey Johnny released earlier this year. She is managed by Chameleon Records and has been mentored by Grammy award-winning producer Pete Smith. This is the third single in her upcoming four song debut EP.

The song begins with some pensive piano playing by Magnus Holm Sorensen. Rose Thorn’s vocals enter searing through the austere arrangement. Vocal harmonies are a well-performed addition to the song. We also hear some strings and a simple beat to heighten the musical narrative. The song is an ode to healthy and holistic relationships. It talks of self-worth, liberty, and leaving past hurts. Lyrically, Thorn sings about reconsidering personal spaces and the manner in which they are to be maintained by close ones.

Thorn’s singing is reminiscent of Adele. Despite pianos forming the major musical element rhythmically, the song is able to create a vast theatrical aura. Thorn displays great songwriting and lyrical maturity along with her stunning vocal performance. Her songwriting aims to propagate love and tolerance rooted in empathy and humanism. Musically the music is inspired by dark blues, rock, and 70s music. Reciprocal Love is a fiery pop ballad that expresses what one feels so that others can relate and find solace.
