Indie alternative pop artist and singer-songwriter Nichole McCulloch who goes by her artist name Sadie Nix has a pop hit on her hands with Same Song. This is Sadie’s second release after her debut single Taylor Case (That Means You). The song has been featured on BBC Music Introducing, which features fresh promising new artists. Trey Vittetoe who has worked with Miley Cyrus and Selena Gomez handles production on the track. The was recorded at London’s famed Metropolis Studios which has been used by the likes of Mark Ronson, Queen, Michael Jackson, U2, Lady Gaga, and Adele. With all this background, it’s no surprise that we’re treated to an amazing pop number.
The track commences with an infectious beat and sets us grooving for what’s to come. In the pre-chorus, we hear some great instrumentation. When the chorus comes in we hear vocal harmonies come in, which sound neat adding lively energy. The brief guitar solo after the bridge complements the arrangement. The song has an infectious chorus where Nix sings of turning the music loud to drown her indecisions. It’s something you would keep singing and the hook stays with you.
Same Song sounds fresh while reminding us of some late 2000s and early 2010s pop. The lyrics are relatable and genuine which displays Nix’s songwriting prowess. Catchiness and tight arrangements and production are its highlights. Same Song is an energetic dance-pop song with vivant energy.

1. Who were your musical influences growing up?
Everyone! I had been exposed to all types of music, I love everything from Dolly Parton, David Bowie , TuPac and Janet Jackson. To me there is good music and bad and the only thing that makes the difference is how it makes you feel!
2. What’s the story behind your artist name Sadie Nix?
As I am still running a business full time I needed a name that was different to my given name. All of my friends call me Nic so I thought I would take that and make it more artistic and use the X. As for Sadie, it has always been a name I liked and worked well with Nix so that’s how it was born!
3. You have Trey Vittetoe as producer who has worked with the likes of Selena Gomez, Miley Cyrus. How was it working with him and the song writing production process for the song?
It was great working with Trey, he just instantly “got” the sound I was going for and he was super easy to work with. His ability to add layers to production is fantastic and adds so much texture.
4. Also you had “Same Song” played on BBC Music Introducing. Tell us about that.
Yes! That was amazing, BBC Introducing has such a great programme to support new artists and I had uploaded Same Song on a Tuesday night and had the programmer in touch with me Wednesday morning. It was a dream of mine since I was about 7 to be on the radio and being played a few songs away from the likes of Lady Gaga and Harry Styles was surreal.
5. Your 2 releases till now have been pretty diverse. What other genres and type of songs are we to expect from your upcoming album?
I really like a variety of music so it is hard sometimes to stick to a style but I would say my natural home is within an indie pop genre and a bit dark and moody. Same Song is a bit of an outlier, I wanted to do something fun and upbeat for the summer before we go back into sad girl autumn, which I think my new album will work well with!
