meadowhip – Iconic | Exciting

Cara Walkam’s solo project, meadowhip, is an exciting new territory! One half of the Wollongong Indie Pop duo, Territories, the singer-songwriter and poet writes beautiful music. Her musings are interesting takes on the self and society and, more specifically, Walkman’s view on the matter. She cites Pop and Soul artists like Solange, Erykah Badu, Groove Theory and Tame Impala as some major influences. With plenty of each of these artists in her mix, meadowhip is certainly an interesting exploration.

Iconic, her latest single is an extremely exciting track to listen to. While it’s only her third release, it has so many expert-like elements. Using Jazz and Groove elements to set up the atmosphere, her voice certainly takes you to places. The beats have this analogous tape sound that has the perfect amount of lo-fi and hi-fi mixed in. The whole track has so much Soul in it and is perfect to listen to when you’re just vibing by yourself or with someone special. You could probably find yourself playing Iconic in the background as you go about your daily chores. However, the track has so many elements that will simply relax you.

Meadowhip has the sound you look for when you just need to relax at the end of the day and the music is still exciting. I love how brilliantly workshopped this track is with every single element pulling on your heartstrings and boosting your mood.
